Celebrating 30 years of caring for our community

Netcare Linksfield Hospital is three decades strong
Monday, February 6 2023

In the same year that the .co.za domain we know so well today was established, the hospital known today as Netcare Linksfield Hospital opened its doors. The hospital recently celebrated 30 solid years of caring for the health of the community it serves.

“A huge thank you to our surrounding communities for your support over the past three decades and entrusting our hospital and the doctors practising here with your most valued assets – your and your family’s health,” says Lisete Vieira, general manager of Netcare Linksfield and Netcare Linkwood hospitals.

“The year 1992 was a busy year across the globe, and it was no different in South Africa. Towards the end of the year, with our country accelerating to democracy, Linksfield Park Clinic was officially opened.

“We would like to pay tribute to the specialists, healthcare practitioners, nurses and support staff whose dedicated, selfless service to our patients over the years has been a driving force in building the strong reputation of our healthcare facility. We would like to acknowledge the long association many of them have had with the hospital, including some founding members of the hospital who have been here since the very beginning,” she says.

In 1997, Netcare acquired the hospital, and it was renamed Netcare Linksfield Hospital. Today the hospital is a modern, digitally enabled facility offering a wide range of specialised medical services including cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, robotic assisted orthopaedic surgery, cochlear implants, endocrinology, renal dialysis, neurology, and pulmonology, among many others.

Its sister hospital, Netcare Linkwood Hospital, is a specialist facility incorporating maternity and neonatal care facilities, a day ward, ophthalmic surgery, and a modern theatre complex.

Netcare Linksfield Hospital was the first Netcare hospital to obtain the Council of Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA) healthcare quality improvement accreditation more than a decade ago.

“I would like to pay tribute to our healthcare heroes for their courageous and titanic efforts during the pandemic, and the compassionate care you show to our patients every day. We look forward to being of service to our community for many more years to come,” Vieira concludes.
