Hospital opens brand new critical care wing to meet growing demands of community

Netcare Garden City Hospital expands adult ICU, high care

Thursday, January 12 2023

In response to the growing demand for private healthcare in Mayfair West and surrounding communities, Netcare Garden City Hospital has opened a brand new adult wing incorporating a 20 bed adult intensive care unit (ICU) and 20 bed adult high care unit.

According to Zeyn Asmal, general manager of the hospital, the new development is in addition to the existing 14-bed adult ICU and forms part of the facility’s journey in recent years to upgrade existing infrastructure and wards, and increases the hospital capacity to 383 beds.

“The well appointed critical care wing is equipped with advanced medical technology and is designed to be a calming environment that promotes healing. Utilising this technology, the experienced specialists practising here and our highly trained team of nursing professionals work closely together to provide patients with the best and safest care possible.

“We wish to thank the Department of Health for providing the required licence to our hospital following their extensive and thorough inspection of the new wing. We also wish to thank the highly skilled specialists who have chosen to practise at our facility, as well as our patients and their families for continuing to place their trust in us here at Netcare Garden City Hospital.

“By continuing to build on our comprehensive range of private healthcare services we aim to meet the individual needs of each and every person in our care, placing them at the centre of everything we do,” concluded Asmal.
