The hospital boasts a Cardiology and Cardio-thoracic surgical unit, equipped with the most advanced technology and apparatus. This Cardiac Institute has 2 Catheterization Laboratories that are equipped to perform electrophysiological studies (EPS) as well as echo-sonar procedures. Electrophysiology, Cardiology ? Paediatric & Adult, Cardio thoracic surgery.

This state-of-the-art centre of excellence is equipped to treat all diseases of the digestive system, with special focus on both gastroscopic and colonoscopy procedures. The unit specializes in the treatment and management of upper gastro-intestinal bleeding.

Oncology

This unit is equipped with mother-and-baby facilities, en suite bathrooms, general rooms and isolation facilities. Procedures also include Paediatric surgery. Paediatricians on site have special interest in amongst other, allergies, lungs/Pulmonology.

Radiation Oncology

External radiation therapy:
Three dimensional computer tumour mapping and fusion of images is used. This way, multiple radiation beams can be shaped to use ionizing radiation to achieve palliative or radical treatment goals. Our team of Radiation Oncologists offer patients the benefit of a comprehensive experience. Radiation Therapists are responsible for the daily delivery of treatments, and play a vital role in the assessment of side effects

Unsealed radio nuclides:
Most commonly used is Iodine 131 for the treatment of well differentiated thyroid tumours.
Patients are cared for in a manner to minimize exposure of radiation, to employees and the community.

Chemotherapy:
Chemotherapy involves the treatment of cancer with chemical agents. It is administered to destroy malignant cells, or to retard and prevent their growth. Medical Oncologists administer the drugs, as both an adjacent therapy to surgery, radiotherapy or as primary treatment.

Urology
Vascular surgery
A State-of-the-art neuro-and vascular unit for patients suffering from neuro-surgical and vascular diseases. This unit provides a dedicated facility where conventional open surgery can be combined with the most advanced endo-vascular techniques.

The theatre is fully equipped for all major vascular surgical procedures and includes the most modern available X-ray imaging machines to provide not only standard DSA angiography, but also 3D rational angiography and intra-operative computerized tomography. The vascular unit is under the aegis of Professor Cobus van Marle, one of the pioneers in endo-vascular procedures in South Africa.
