Being diagnosed with cancer can be a frightening and confusing time, with many unknowns faced by you and your loved ones. Your oncologist will talk you through as many of those unknowns as possible, to help you understand your cancer and what to expect, so that you can decide on the best treatment plan for you, together.
If you have a symptom or a screening test result that suggests you may have cancer, the next stage is for your doctor to find out whether it is due to cancer, or some other cause.
You might find it useful to read a little more about what you’re experiencing, or to get more information about the type of cancer your doctor is testing for.
A cancer diagnosis can make you feel like your health is out of your control, and this can be a scary feeling.
You can take an active role in your own care however, by asking questions and using available resources to inform yourself as best you can on on the cancer you have, and how you can make the journey ahead as manageable for you as it can possibly be.
