Winners of Netcare’s ‘all-expenses-paid’ birth welcome their first child

Judith Kashora and Tonderai Jiri knew their first child was blessed before she was even born. Three months before she came into the world, her parents were the lucky winners of an ‘all-expenses-paid’ birth at their local Netcare hospital at the MamaMagic Baby Expo held in Cape Town. The prize was especially welcomed by the new parents, as they did not have medical aid cover. Little wonder, then, that her parents named the 3.3 kg bundle of joy ‘Renée’, which means ‘born again’.
“Being born in one of Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital’s private rooms is indeed a great start for our little one. We have been treated like royalty here, everyone has been so kind. Having Renée in our life is a great blessing; I never thought I could be so excited,” says Judith.
The prize included the hospital stay; the services of a gynaecologist, anaesthetist, paediatrician and midwife; as well as a range of ante- and post-natal care services offered by the Netcare Stork’s Nest mother and baby wellness clinic, such as a free 4D live scan and the baby’s first immunisation and ‘well baby’ check-up.
Proud new father Tonderai, says that he is “out-of-this-world happy. We had a miscarriage a year ago, which makes Renée’s arrival even more special. We are treasuring every moment right now.”
Dirk Truter, general manager of Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital, notes, “The staff and midwives of our hospital are truly passionate about bringing new life into the world and assisting parents in the first few days of their parenting. We therefore place a heavy emphasis on providing quality and personalised care in order to safeguard the well-being of our mothers and their newborns.”
