Care for KZN drive launched nationwide

Healthcare group spearheads major community relief drive
Tuesday, April 19 2022

The Netcare Group has launched a major community relief project in support of the people of KwaZulu-Natal who have been impacted by the recent floods in the region.

As part of the initiative members of the public are invited to donate blankets, canned and other non-perishable foods, bottled water, sanitary products, nappies and warm clothing to help alleviate some of the immediate physical hardships people are facing in the wake of the floods. These items can be dropped off at any Netcare hospital, Netcare 911 base, Netcare Medicross, Netcare Prime Cure or Netcare Akeso facility.

“Let us work together in support of the people of KZN,” says Mande Toubkin, general manager emergency, trauma, transplant and CSI at Netcare. “We at the Netcare Foundation have set the ball rolling with a donation of 400 blankets, however the need in KZN is considerable, and we must move fast to get help to those in need as soon as possible.”

“We call on everyone in South Africa, as well as those beyond the borders of our country, to do everything we can to assist people who have lost so much to this natural disaster. Let our actions show how much we feel for those in need during this time of absolute devastation.

“To those who have lost family members and loved ones, the roof over their heads and what little they had, we are mindful of the pain and anguish you are suffering, and we are with you in heart and soul. Our thoughts and prayers remain with you during this difficult time. We are, as always, here to support you through this crisis with empathy and compassion,” she added.

Toubkin concluded by saying that Netcare operations countrywide will collect donated items and will ensure that all donations are distributed to the communities in need in the flood ravaged areas. “If everyone could donate just one blanket, one can of food and a bottle of water, it will make a world of difference to the people of KZN.”
