In addition Netcare 911 and Netcare hospitals once again providing extensive medical services at this year’s Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge, the Netcare Group will also for the first time manage the wellness centre at the registration for the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge. The registration at the Ticketpro Dome in North Riding, Randburg stretches over three days, from Thursday, 17 November to Saturday, 19 November.

Free health screenings
Nursing staff from Medicross’ Prime Cure Wellness division will offer free blood pressure, blood sugar and iron screenings for the duration of the registration event, and alert participants to any results that are outside the norm so that they have the option of seeking further medical advice.

Prime Cure Wellness specialises in providing a range of employee wellness services, including health screenings, on contract to large and small employers while Medicross operates the largest primary care network in South Africa, offering medical, dental and a range of complementary healthcare services at its 70 family medical and dental centres countrywide.

Meet the sports medicine experts
Experts in sports medicine, injury prevention, and sports injuries and treatment from the Waterfall Sports Orthopaedic Surgery (SOS) centre based at Netcare Waterfall City Hospital in Midrand will be on hand at the Netcare wellness stand on all three of the cycle challenge registration days.

Cyclists are encouraged to avail themselves of the opportunity to meet with various members of the Waterfall SOS multi-disciplinary team at the following times, to discuss and get professional advice on any concerns ahead of race day and for handy tips on how to prevent cycling injuries.
