MamaMagic baby Renee turns two

Looking back at the past two years Judith

Tuesday, February 28 2017

Just over two years ago, on 10 February 2015, Judith Kashora and Tonderai Jiri welcomed a 3,3 kilogram baby girl into the world.

Judith, from Parklands in Cape Town, still recalls the moment it was announced at the Cape Town MamaMagic Baby Expo that she and Tonderai were the lucky winners of an ‘all-expenses-paid’ birth at their local Netcare facility, Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital.

Looking back at the past two years Judith says that Renée was walking at ten months old and is now joyfully running and jumping wherever she goes. “She is a happy toddler who loves swimming and thoroughly enjoys outings to the beach,” says her proud mother.

To celebrate Renée’s second birthday, the couple arranged a special birthday party with a butterfly shaped cake for the lovely little toddler, for close friends and family.

The proud parents describe their prize as an incredible experience. “The facilities at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital are really lovely and the doctors and nurses went out of their way to assist us and make us feel at home. The entire experience meant the world to my husband and I and it ensured that Renée started life in the best possible way.”

“Having a private room was one of the highlights of my birthing experience at the hospital. I slept peacefully, had my own bathroom and Tonderai, Renée and I could bond undisturbed as a new family unit. As first-time parents, Tonderai and I had no idea how to handle Renée’s painful winds but the nursing team were always there to help us with great kindness and love. It felt as if they were family,” she adds.

According to Judith, she and Tonderai have different ideas about a possible sibling for their daughter. “I would like three children but my husband is happy with one. Perhaps when Renée turns four we will consider having another baby.”

Judith’s advice to expecting parents this Pregnancy Awareness Month is to try to enjoy their pregnancy and not be afraid of the birth. “Feel free to share any of your concerns with the nursing team. Having your questions answered and your concerns addressed will make you feel comfortable and at ease during the birth of your baby. I am sure all Netcare hospitals are as wonderful as Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital.”

The doctors and nurses at the hospital all remember Judith, Tonderai and baby Renée with fondness and wish the little toddler a very happy birthday, and all the best for a happy, healthy future,” says Dirk Truter, general manager of Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital.
