Incredible outpouring of support is heart warming

Monday, July 4 2022

Families with babies and small children affected by the recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal have received much needed assistance with an enormous donation of nappies from Huggies, in support of the major community relief initiative launched by Netcare.

According to Mande Toubkin, general manager emergency, trauma, transplant and CSI at Netcare, Huggies contributed a total of 14 788 nappy packs to Netcare’s initiative. These were recently handed over to Gift of the Givers for distribution to those in need.

“In the aftermath of the floods and the devastation caused to the people of KZN, any and every contribution has made a difference,” says Toubkin. “People have opened their hearts. We have received loads of donations throughout our operations countrywide, which is heart warming.

“We wish to thank Huggies for their incredible donation, which  is no doubt making a very real difference in the lives of many KZN families at this difficult time,” Toubkin concludes.

As part of the Netcare initiative, staff and members of the public were invited to donate blankets, canned and other non-perishable foods, bottled water, sanitary products, nappies and warm clothing to help alleviate some of the immediate physical hardships people were facing in the wake of the floods. Hundreds of blankets and more than three tonnes of consumables were generously donated during this time. These items were transported to the province and distributed to those in need in the flood ravaged areas.
