Netcare has been awarded the 2015 RobecoSAM Bronze Class distinction for the group’s excellent sustainability performance. Netcare has also been included in the 2015 RobecoSAM’s ‘The Sustainability Yearbook’, the world’s most comprehensive publication on corporate sustainability.

Netcare is the only South African healthcare company to have achieved this recognition, and one of only six South African companies to be acknowledged by RobecoSAM for their sustainability performance. A record number of 830 companies from 42 countries participated in the latest international survey.

Awards such as this and Netcare’s inclusion in 2014 in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index, acknowledge the significant progress our company has made with regard to corporate governance and ensuring the sustainability of our operations in the past few years.

Netcare’s key sustainability efforts are focused on:

  •     a five-year environmental sustainability strategy which includes energy efficiency, renewable energy projects and water efficiency;
  •     reducing waste, recycling and re-using resources where possible; and
  •     applying the principles of good governance as recommended and set out in the King III Report on Corporate Governance for South Africa, the JSE Listings requirements and all applicable environmental legislation.
