The ward staff will ask you to sign several documents. Please ensure that you sign all before leaving the ward.
Make sure that you take any x-rays or scans done during your hospital stay home with you. Note that these may be in digital format.
After leaving the ward, you need to present your discharge form or card — which will be given to you by the ward staff — at the main hospital reception.
You’ll need to settle any outstanding charges and fees not covered by your medical scheme, such as private room fees.
Private patients will be required to settle their outstanding hospital bill. The following payment methods are accepted: cash, EFT and debit or credit card payments.
Your doctor will most likely ask you to book a follow-up appointment, so you may choose to go to their consulting room and book the appointment before leaving the hospital. Alternatively contact Netcare appointmed™ online via the MyNetcare Online portal on our website, or call Netcare appointmed™ on 0860 555 565 and a consultant will conveniently book the appointment for you with your doctor. This service is provided free.
If your doctor has not advised you to make a follow-up appointment, we suggest you ask whether it’s needed and how long after your discharge it should be.
