Preparing for your first consultation

Being diagnosed with cancer can bring on many different emotions: fear, stress, surprise, confusion, anger, and the list goes on. It’s certainly not easy, but we’re here to make sense of it all with you and make sure that you receive the care you need.

We know that preparing for your first consultation can be stressful. These three simple steps will make it easier for you to prepare for your first appointment.

01

Educate yourself

Many people find that knowing more about the type of cancer they’ve been diagnosed with makes them feel more comfortable and empowered to make decisions with their care team about their treatment options.

Learn more about cancer types

02

Bring a loved one

If you can, bring along a family member or friend to the discussion, to take notes or just listen and provide support.

What else to bring with you

03

Know how to get there

Once you know where your first appointment will take place, you can search for the relevant cancer facility on our site to find more information and location details.
