Netcare is an investment holding company and through its subsidiaries, joint ventures and associates in South Africa and in the United Kingdom, conducts business as a private hospital group, providing an extensive range of general and specialised medical care services.

NetRewards, a reward and recognition programme, is designed to recognise non-managerial employees for living the Netcare values. It is aimed at encouraging employees to perform to the highest standards and to provide excellent patient care. Netcare’s Carer of the Month programme recognises employees who go above the call of duty in caring for patients. This culminates in a gala event, Netcare Night of the Stars. Stories of employees performing extraordinary deeds are submitted by peers for consideration. Divisional winners are announced at the event and awarded one of four brand new cars. An employee wellness programme is offered in partnership with ICAS. The unique and tailored solutions assist employees and their families where required and provide support in balancing work and personal life challenges.

Training and development remain key to the sustainability of the business. Netcare is committed to facilitating training opportunities that grow the broader skills base within South Africa. Our skills development strategy responds to the high unemployment rate and shortages of skilled professionals within the healthcare sector. Netcare exceeded the required legislative training spend of 1%, with a spend of R40 million for 14 217 training interventions undertaken in 2011.

The Netcare talent management programme focuses on identifying high potential and high-performing employees operating in critical positions. The various leadership and management development programmes offered encourage innovation, critical thinking, proactiveness, continuous development and life-long learning.

Netcare offers a wide spectrum of career opportunities within various disciplines, including nursing care, pharmaceutical services, emergency medical services, marketing, information technology, human resources, finance, catering services and administration. Qualification requirements are position specific, Nursing and emergency services related qualifications can be completed at one of the Netcare Education campuses or at one of our state-of-the art School of Emergency and Critical Care campuses.
